Anthropic to run Claude servers from $32 billion Queensland hub
Anthropic will lease part of a $32 billion Queensland data centre starting 2027 to power its Claude AI.
AI company Anthropic has signed a deal to use part of Australia's largest data centre, being built near Dalby in Queensland's Western Downs by a Singaporean developer. The facility will draw as much power as about 1.5 million average Australian households.
Anthropic aims to start using it in 2027, though the development application was only filed last month. The company will use the site to run its Claude program, not to train AI models.
The project is expected to create thousands of jobs. The lease is subject to Foreign Investment Review Board approval.
Premier David Crisafulli said it was a major win and result of his recent US trade mission.
