Police crash leaves Merrylands home unrepaired six months later
A Merrylands couple remains unrepaired more than six months after a police vehicle responding to an assault call crashed into their home.
On March 9, a police wagon responding to a reported assault in Guildford West left the road and crashed into the Merrylands house on Holroyd Rd. The impact partially collapsed the garage, damaged water pipes, and forced emergency crews to cut power.
No injuries were reported. The couple, Frank and Sylvia, say this is the second police vehicle to hit their home in about two years.
The first came during a 2024 police pursuit and was handled by their insurer. More than six months after the latest crash, the property remains damaged.
NSW Police says the claim has been referred to the force's insurer and they are investigating. The couple want bollards installed to prevent future crashes.
