Three young motocross riders race for national title in Shepparton
Three young motocross riders from Lake Gillear have qualified for the 2026 Australian Junior Motocross Championship.
Three young riders from Lake Gillear have earned their spot at Australia's junior motocross nationals. Lincoln Templeton started riding at four and has raced since, recently recovering from a broken leg five months ago.
Syd Walsh, now 13, learned to ride at six and has won Victorian and Western Region titles. Ajay Callesen, nine, started at four when his dad gave him a bike.
All three say they love the sport for the adrenaline, friendships, and chance to travel. Syd said it is high risk, but it's really fun.
Their coach, Jake Dumesny from 477 Rider Development, has worked with all three and says more young people are now seeing the value of proper motocross coaching.
