Patrick Voss wins hearts by consoling teammates after grand final loss
After Fremantle squandered a 17-point lead, Voss supported heartbroken teammates instead of despairing.
Fremantle's Patrick Voss kicked a goal with just over four minutes left that put the Dockers up by 17 points and looked set for their first premiership. Brisbane then kicked four straight goals to steal the flag.
As Lions players celebrated and Dockers sat in despair, the 23-year-old Voss stood and walked over to teammates Jye Amiss, Josh Treacy and Hayden Young to lift them off the MCG turf. The moment went viral.
Voss told The Age he had written down things he was proud of before the match so he would not be defined by the result. He wanted to show love and support to his teammates.
