Anthony Callea's intimate tour promises authenticity: no miming, just raw voice
Anthony Callea is doing 10 intimate shows with guitar and piano, refusing to mime.
Anthony Callea has stripped his new tour back to basics: a guitar, a piano, his voice, and nothing else. The Connection Tour will run just 10 shows in small venues because he wants to be at his best every night.
Callea's one rule: he will never mime. Callea once walked out of a major event when organisers asked performers to mime their final songs.
At 43, Callea says he has stopped worrying about perfection. He'd rather fail authentically on stage than pretend.
He wants audiences to disconnect from their phones and connect with the moment instead. Callea has released eight albums, three of which hit number one on the ARIA chart, and toured with Celine Dion and Whitney Houston.
But his 2004 debut single The Prayer remains the fastest-selling single by an Australian artist.
