Piastri finishes eighth at Spanish GP after unrepairable wing damage
Australian driver finished eighth with damaged wing his team declined to fix properly during the race.
Oscar Piastri damaged his front wing colliding with George Russell on the opening lap at the Spanish Grand Prix. During a pit stop, his McLaren team offered to add holes to the wing rather than repair it fully.
Piastri pushed back on team radio: "tell me if you're going to fix it next time". Later in the race, the team pitted him and released him into heavy traffic, a move commentator Martin Brundle noted "hasn't worked out well".
Piastri spent much of the afternoon fighting through congestion instead of racing competitively.
