Three new ambassadors appointed as Australia pursues UN Security Council seat
Foreign Minister Penny Wong named three new ambassadors. They will work in Egypt, Papua New Guinea, and Timor-Leste.
Joel McGregor will lead Australia's embassy in Cairo. Jamie Isbister will become high commissioner to Papua New Guinea.
Lucienne Manton will be ambassador to Timor-Leste. The appointments come as the government pushes its bid for a UN Security Council seat.
