Quest Apartment Hotels breach affects 1.9 million customers including passport
A hotel chain's August breach exposed more than 1.9 million customer records. These included passport numbers, driver's licences, and credit cards.
Quest Apartment Hotels told customers about a cyber attack on August 17. The attack compromised personal details for more than 1.9 million people.
The breach hit a database linked to a third-party technology provider. Hackers accessed more than 104,000 passport and driver's licence numbers.
They also accessed more than 225,000 vehicle registrations and more than 297,000 credit card details. More than 46,700 credit cards were stolen with CVV security codes intact.
Birth dates, NDIS numbers and Medicare numbers were also exposed. The hotel chain is contacting affected customers and advising those with compromised driver's licences to contact authorities.
