Briggs launches punk band Big Noter with Tom Morello
Adam Briggs leads new band Big Noter, featuring Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello and Public Enemy's Chuck D.
The Yorta-Yorta musician and Australian hip-hop star has formed Big Noter, a punk band that includes drummer Steve Smith, guitarist Leigh Davies and bassist Craig Strain. Big Noter's debut album, Songs in the Key of Wrestling, features contributions from Morello on guitar, Chuck D on a track about Shepparton's First Nations community, and Idles' Joe Talbot.
Briggs says the shift from rap to punk is not a departure: "I'm the same guy with the same message and the same middle finger." The band's sound blends chugging power chords with relentless drums.
It is inspired by groups like Mindsnare and Rage Against the Machine. Briggs chose collaborators who shared his values: "I didn't want anyone on my record who is a dickhead."
