Papali'i signed for Parramatta in 2013 because Ricky Stuart reminded him of his tough Logan childhood.
Josh Papali'i signed a contract with Parramatta in 2013, drawn by coach Ricky Stuart's tough style that reminded him of his harsh Logan, Queensland upbringing. Papali'i then changed his mind and stayed at Canberra.

He wore "Aiga" (Samoan for family and community) on his wrist tape. In a new Raiders documentary, he reveals his focus now is being fully present for his own four children after missing key moments during his playing years.
