Police investigate links between two shop fires across Albury-Wodonga border
Police investigate whether two shop fires in nearby towns 15 minutes apart are connected.
A fire started at the front of an Albury tobacco shop on Dean Street at 3.30am on Sunday, October 25. The building had previously been closed for selling illegal tobacco and vapes.
Firefighters prevented the flames from spreading. Police were told two people left the area in a white SUV shortly after the fire started.
Fifteen minutes later, Wodonga firefighters were called to a corner store on Wilson Street that was gutted by flames. A vehicle was also seen leaving that scene.
The corner store, which recently changed owners, was destroyed. Police and detectives in Albury and Wodonga are now investigating whether the two fires are linked or whether the second was a case of mistaken identity.
