Heathcote signs McCarthy, Naylor in major rebuild push
Heathcote has signed Henry McCarthy and four other players including star forward Joel Naylor from Hurstbridge.
Heathcote Saints are rebuilding after an elimination final exit with major recruiting. Henry McCarthy, who left two years ago, returns after kicking 67 goals in 27 games for Calivil United.
McCarthy earned a spot in the LVFNL Team of the Year this year. The Saints also signed Joel Naylor, Cooper Perrin, Caelen Anderson and Liam Middleton from Hurstbridge in the Northern league.
McCarthy, now 23, played in Heathcote's 2023 grand final loss. Coach Andrew Saladino says McCarthy's return is a major boost, particularly as a one-pointer (a player who counts as just one senior spot rather than two).
McCarthy is keen to play both forward and midfield. The only departure so far is 2025 best and fairest Will Tobin, who moved to South Australia.
