Helen Haines breaks tradition, endorses independent for Benambra

Federal MP Helen Haines has backed independent Lachie McKeeman for the Victorian state seat of Benambra.

Indi MP Helen Haines has backed independent candidate Lachie McKeeman for Benambra in the November 28 election. McKeeman is the first state candidate Haines has supported since winning Indi in 2019.

McKeeman is a doctor who will represent local interests. McKeeman will not represent the big political parties.

The Coalition has held Benambra for almost a hundred years. But Haines said it has not delivered healthcare, safe roads, and infrastructure.

Haines believes independents could hold power if the election results in a minority government. McKeeman did not take donations from Climate 200.

This is a fundraising group that backs many independent candidates.
