Fresh to Go closes after 30 years feeding Brisbane's Valley

Owners He Ming Wang and Li Hua Ma close Fresh to Go after 30 years serving Valley customers.

Fresh to Go opened in Valley Metro station 30 years ago and moved to a McWhirters food court 13 years ago. The couple serves about 100 customers daily, who queue for Turkish bread and roast pork sandwiches priced under $5.

The owners remember every regular's order by heart and prepare 14 kilograms of pork every morning before 5am. The most popular item, roast pork and crackling, usually sells out by midday.

A blueberry muffin costs just $2.50. The owners have kept prices nearly unchanged for years.

He Ming said their goal was always to make friends, not profit. Regular customers say they will struggle to find lunch under $10 anywhere else in the Valley.
