5000 crowd celebrates as SOAK returns to Newcastle Ocean Baths
About 5000 people attended SOAK's second year at Newcastle Ocean Baths, eclipsing last year's crowd for the sunset concert.
SOAK returned to Newcastle Ocean Baths on Saturday night. About 5,000 people watched ARIA Award-winning hip-hop duo Hermitude and Newcastle-based DJ and Ode Label founder Claire O'Brien perform against the panoramic sunset and monolithic blue bleachers.
The crowd from this second year eclipsed last year's turnout from October. SOAK kicks off New Annual, Newcastle's flagship arts festival.
Four nights of live music follow at the Ocean Baths. On Sunday, jazz artists perform, including Steph Russell and Grace Aberhart.
Other nights feature R&B and blues artists, plus soul and rock. All events are free.
