Coalition funds 10 technical colleges to train 5,000 Victorian students
Ten new technical colleges will train 5,000 secondary students. They will teach critical trades over eight years.
Opposition Leader Jess Wilson announced the Coalition's plan. The Coalition will open 10 new technical colleges across Victoria.
The colleges will train 5,000 secondary students from years 10 to 12. Students will learn hands-on trades including plumbing, electrical work and carpentry.
Students will also learn healthcare and hospitality skills. The colleges will work with local businesses and industry groups.
The scheme costs $222 million over eight years. Each college will operate from existing secondary schools or TAFE institutes.
Each will have dedicated teachers. Not all students do well in traditional classrooms.
