Simon Black set to hand cup to Lions if they win third premiership
Simon Black, a star of Brisbane's 2000s three-peat, will present the premiership cup if the Lions beat Fremantle on Saturday.
The 2002 Brownlow medallist will hand the trophy to Brisbane coach Chris Fagan and the three co-captains if the Lions win their first flag since 2025. Black played 322 games for Brisbane from 1998 to 2013 and won the Norm Smith Medal in the 2003 Grand Final.
Simon Black said the moment would mean a great deal to him and his family. Black described the Lions as having been such a big part of his life and said handing the cup to this team would be incredibly special.
The honour follows similar presentations by former coach Leigh Matthews (2024) and teammate Jonathan Brown (2025).
