South Launceston wins grand final to sweep all four flags in single season
South Launceston's Dogs defeated Launceston by 10 points to become the first club to win all four premiership flags in one year.
South Launceston completed an extraordinary achievement by winning all four available premiership flags in a single season after beating Launceston by 10 points on Saturday night. Grant Holt was named best on ground in the grand final despite missing two straightforward shots in the final quarter that he thought might cost the Dogs the game.
Holt, a playing coach last year under Anthony Taylor, kicked two goals and set up several others. The Dogs came from nine points down at three-quarter time to win.
More than half of the team was under 20 years old, many recruited directly from the junior program last year. Holt said the coaching decisions made in the previous season, when he and Tom Foon held the role, proved crucial to their development.
He credited the junior program for setting up the team's success.
