Junee Hotel on market after couple's three-year rebuild
Brendon and Emma Reynolds are selling the Junee Hotel they restored from ruin over three years.
The Reynoldses took over the lease in May 2023. They bought the property a year later.
They poured their own money into a building once filled with filthy rooms, broken bathrooms and holes in walls. Since then they have repainted, replaced carpets, and refurbished bathrooms.
They brought the bar, bistro and beer garden back to life. The 25-room hotel now offers affordable stays at $90 a night.
It hosts community events. A successful singles night sparked five relationships.
The couple wants a simpler life closer to family. They are frustrated by government red tape and taxes on regional pubs that make it harder for small hoteliers to compete.

Why it mattersThe story shows how much effort goes into saving a regional landmark, and how government policy can make it unsustainable even when the business works.
AustraliaRegional pubs across Australia face similar tax and staffing pressures; the Junee Hotel's sale signals how hard it is to keep these community hubs alive without policy support.
