Albury showgrounds board loses management to state administrator
NSW Crown Lands replaced the board with an interim administrator days before its term expired.
The Albury Showground Land Manager Board ran the site for five years. On October 14, it learned it would be replaced by an out-of-town temporary administrator.
Board president Henk van de Ven said the decision came without notice. The board was never told an administrator was being considered.
The announcement came only seven days before the board's term ended. The four-person board says it turned the showgrounds into a profitable venue.
Recent accounts showed about $250,000 profit. State Crown Lands said the board was too small but gave no other reason.
The interim administrator from Lake Macquarie will manage the site. The state is still deciding on future arrangements.
