NSW and Victoria police honour fallen colleagues at Albury memorial
A joint police memorial in Albury honored fallen officers, a little more than one year after two were killed at Porepunkah.
NSW and Victoria police held a joint memorial service at St Matthew's Church in Albury on National Police Remembrance Day. The service marked a little more than one year since Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson and Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart were shot and killed at Porepunkah on August 26, 2025.
Albury hosted the annual remembrance for the first time, reflecting the close cross-border policing community. Officers from both forces laid wreaths and lit candles to honour all members lost in the line of duty.
The gathering also acknowledged Mia Lay, an NSW constable who died in a vehicle collision only last week while responding to a call.
