British trainer Roger Varian brought Enfjaar to Australia for the 150th Caulfield Cup. The six-year-old dominated the Group 3 Glorious Stakes at Goodwood in August.
The victory earned an automatic entry to the A$6 million race. Enfjaar's new owners decided to race him over the Australian winter.
They hoped for adventure and a shot at a major international prize. Jockey Ray Dawson rode Enfjaar to victory in England.
He made his first Australian trip to ride the horse at Caulfield. Varian said there could be more to come from the low-mileage gelding.
He said the Melbourne Cup in November would be tempting if Caulfield goes well.
