Aleix Garcia convicted of faking hospital visit and threatening suicide

Aleix Garcia, 22, faked a hospital emergency and later sent suicide threats to control his girlfriend.

Aleix Garcia sent his girlfriend a fake message from his father, claiming he was unconscious in a hospital on June 4. Garcia later told police he sent it as a 'test' of her love.

Two months later, Garcia sent many messages. He said he would take his own life if she left him.

He called them his 'final goodbye'. Garcia told police he had no real plans to hurt himself.

The court heard his behavior was manipulative and caused emotional harm. Judge Geraldine Beattie rejected the defence argument that Garcia was struggling with a breakup.

She said his admission of never planning to take his life made the conduct worse. He was deliberately hurting his partner with false threats.
