Trial opens for four accused in Kurunjang teenager's machete death

Four men, including cousins Ngor Agear and Myaker Myaker, are on trial for the December 2024 murder of Kon Hsu Sein.

The trial began in Victoria's Supreme Court on Thursday for four men accused of murdering Kon Hsu Sein, 18, in a group attack on December 20, 2024. Prosecutors told the jury the teenager was leaving his Kurunjang home for a party when he and two friends were confronted in a laneway.

Sein's friends escaped but he was cornered by four males, three armed with machetes. Sein suffered at least 20 chop and sharp force injuries during a one-minute attack while backing away with his arms raised.

Neighbours heard the commotion and called emergency services, but Sein died at the scene. His skull was fractured and his brain membrane was impacted.

Two of the accused were 15 and 17 years old at the time and cannot be named. Cousins Ngor Agear, 24, and Myaker Myaker, 23, are pleading not guilty to murder.
