Mountain biker airlifted after serious crash in Yengo National Park
A man in his 40s was airlifted to hospital after a serious mountain bike crash in Yengo National Park.
Paramedics and the rescue helicopter were called on Saturday around 11am and went to bushland near Heartbreak Hill campground in Yengo National Park, southwest of Wollombi. The man was found about 400 metres from the campground.
The man had serious chest and shoulder injuries. Specialist medics checked him first.
They lifted him out with a stretcher winch. The man was flown to John Hunter Hospital.
The man remained in serious condition. The helicopter's quick response likely stopped worse harm.
