Police release images of men after Nazi salute in Newtown
Police seek men who yelled abuse and performed a Nazi salute on a Newtown street.
A group of men walked along Australia Street in Newtown last Saturday around 5.40pm, allegedly yelling offensive comments before one of them stopped to perform a Nazi salute. A woman was also targeted with offensive remarks as the group passed Newtown Police Station.
Police released images of four men and said they can assist with the investigation, though there is no suggestion the men pictured performed the salute. Displaying a Nazi symbol in public can attract a maximum 12-month prison sentence, or two years if it happens near a synagogue, school or museum.
Police are asking for information to identify the group.
