South Launceston women puts four teams in grand final for first time
South Launceston fields four teams in a single grand final for the first time, with 11 sibling pairings.
South Launceston has achieved a rare milestone: four teams competing on grand final day. The Women's Premiers, Women's Reserves, Men's Premiers and Men's Reserves will all play Saturday.
This makes history for the Dogs. Across those teams, 11 sets of siblings will take the field together.
Coach Brett Gillow has two daughters, Grace and Georgia, playing in the women's side. Grace was left out of the first two finals matches after a torn ACL.
Sam Davies fractured her wrist in the preliminary final, which allowed Grace's return. Gillow said the decision to bench Grace was tough but that she accepted it and supported her team.
Georgia has played footy since age four and also coaches the under-17s. The club lost last year's women's grand final to Launceston and faces Deloraine on Saturday for redemption.
