Longmuir rules out Cox for Fremantle preliminary final
Fremantle defender Brennan Cox ruled out of Friday's preliminary final because his calf injury lacks adequate lead-in time.
Cox injured his calf in the round-22 loss to Carlton on August 22 and hasn't played since. Coach Justin Longmuir said the 28-year-old won't travel to Sydney for the clash at the SCG, even though Cox made it through training on Tuesday.
Longmuir told SEN the decision was tough given Cox's position requires full fitness just going into a finals match. Cox will instead play for Peel Thunder in Sunday's WAFL grand final against Claremont, keeping alive his chance for a premiership double if Fremantle wins next week.
