Woman fined $1500 after greyhound found severely malnourished
Susan Pamplin, 82, pleaded guilty to failing to feed her greyhound Sally, who suffered profound malnutrition and a necrotic leg wound.
An 82-year-old Inglewood woman has been fined after her brindle greyhound was found in severe distress. In June 2025, Pamplin called Loddon Shire reporting her dog had been hit by a car.
When shire staff arrived, they found the greyhound lying outside with an open leg wound. A veterinarian found the animal was extremely thin and suffering profound malnutrition.
The wound was necrotic, and an autopsy later revealed the dog also had bone cancer. Sally was euthanised on the vet's recommendation.
Pamplin's lawyer said she had Parkinson's disease and suffered multiple concussions during the period that affected her ability to care for the dog. The magistrate noted photos of the wounded dog were confronting.
Pamplin was fined $1500, banned from owning any animal except her cocker spaniel for 10 years, and is subject to inspections by animal protection officers.
