AirTrunk's $3.7b Hunter data centre comes with $37m community fund
AirTrunk will build a $3.7 billion data centre with a $37 million community fund and $5 million community battery.
AirTrunk's planned $3.7 billion Kurri Kurri data centre includes a $37 million community infrastructure fund and a $5 million community battery. Over $12 million will help Cessnock City Council build a new sporting and community facility.
The remaining $25 million will be used based on what the community wants. The community battery will help 5000 eligible households lower their annual electricity bills by $200 through an Origin Energy program.
The project will create 350 to 400 jobs when it is complete. It will use 70 to 75 per cent clean energy when it opens in 2028.
By 2030, it will use 90 to 100 per cent clean energy.
