Brisbane's six-route bus stop still has no shelter a year later
A Brisbane commuter has waited more than a year for a shelter at a busy bus stop after council removed it mid-2025.
Suzanne Swan has been fighting since August 2025 to get a shelter installed at stop 103 on William Street. The original shelters were removed when Brisbane City Council overhauled its bus network, and the relocated stop was left with just a pole marker.
Six routes stop there-301, 306, 309, 320, 322 and 50-with buses every few minutes. Council initially supported a shelter but then cited heritage restrictions on the nearby Treasury Building.
A temporary shelter was promised by July, but the council later said it needs a crane and road closures to install it. Installation is now due by end of November.
The council says a permanent shelter is not feasible at this location.
