Point Barrow wins Champions Sprint at $19 odds

Point Barrow, a $19 outsider, won her first Group 1 race, the Champions Sprint, in a close finish.

Point Barrow claimed the $3 million Champions Sprint on Stakes Day at Flemington as a major upset, with jockey Mark Zahra steering the mare to her first Group 1 win. The four-year-old beat Plaintiff and Sky Bird in a tight finish.

Sam Freedman said the win was overdue: "She's been a bloody good mare for a while and it's been a long time coming." Zahra won the race for the third time.
