Header sales surge 80% in September on crop confidence
September header sales reached 200 units, up 80% from last year.
Combine harvester sales bounced back to 200 units in September, up 80% from the same month last year. The jump follows a poor first half when just 43 machines sold as farmers held back on big purchases.
Rising fertiliser, fuel and interest rates worried them. Better crop prospects in southern states and Western Australia have restored confidence.
Hay baler sales also remained strong with more than 100 units sold. The machinery association says this activity has brought much-needed hope to the market.
But the full-year tally of around 700 units remains below past levels.
