Chanel holds first official runway in Australia at Sydney show
Chanel held its first official runway on Australian soil in Sydney, a historic milestone after 116 years.
The French luxury house brought its Resort 2027 collection to Barangaroo's Cutaway venue in Sydney for its debut official Australian runway. Nicole Kidman, Kylie Minogue, Margot Robbie and director Baz Luhrmann led the celebrity lineup.
The production scaled massively: two shows at 2:30pm and 6pm, 150 international guests, and three fully booked hotels. At the after-party at Walsh Bay, Kylie performed a medley of her hits with Chanel-clad backup dancers.
First Nations models walked the Sydney runway, a watershed moment for Australian representation. Kidman, named Chanel ambassador in 2025, took the stage barefoot with Luhrmann.
They reunited nearly 25 years after Moulin Rouge. The show itself was a replica of Chanel's Biarritz show, adapted for Sydney's setting.
