Motorcyclist dies after ute with horse float flips on NSW coast road
One motorcyclist killed and another critically injured when a ute towing a horse float flipped and rolled into them near Nelson Bay.
The crash happened on Bucketts Way near Booral, about 30 kilometres northwest of Nelson Bay, around 10:20am on Sunday. The ute with the horse float flipped and rolled before hitting two motorcycles.
One rider died at the scene. The second rider, a man in his 70s, suffered serious leg injuries and was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in critical condition.
The 18-year-old woman driving the ute tested positive on a roadside breath test and was taken to police for formal analysis. The horse in the float was uninjured.
Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the crash. The Bucketts Way was closed in both directions for several hours.
