Sass Jordan, rock singer, dies at 63
Canadian rock singer who won Billboard Female Rock Artist of the Year in 1992 has died peacefully at 63.
Sass Jordan, who rose from Montreal nightclubs at 16 to headline international stages, died peacefully on Sunday surrounded by family. Tell Somebody, her debut album, arrived in 1988 when she was 25.
A year later she won the Juno Award for most promising female vocalist. In 1992, her album Racine and its hit Make You a Believer earned her the Billboard title of Female Rock Artist of the Year, with the album selling around 450,000 copies globally.
She toured alongside the Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Aerosmith and Van Halen through the 1990s. Later she spent six seasons as a judge on Canadian Idol.
She is survived by her husband Derek Sharp and daughter Stella.
