Party hosts charged over hospitalisations in Capalaba

A man and woman in their 40s face court after an out-of-control September party in Capalaba left two people hospitalised.

Glass bottles were thrown at police when they responded to reports of a large disturbance in the Brisbane suburb on September 19 at 10.15pm. A 16-year-old girl collapsed during the chaos and was taken to hospital before being discharged the next day.

A 43-year-old man who arrived to collect a party guest suffered a medical episode and was hospitalised in critical condition. Police charged a 45-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman with organising or failing to manage the gathering safely.

The 16-year-old boy was accused of not complying with police instructions and dealt with under youth justice provisions. The two adults will appear in Cleveland Magistrates Court on October 27.

Police warned hosts to plan ahead, manage guest numbers, supervise activities and watch for warning signs.
