Labor brought in four yoga teachers, Burke says, debunking Coalition claim

The Coalition has repeatedly claimed Labor puts yoga teachers first over construction workers needed for Australia's housing shortage. Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke on Thursday called the claim "absurd" and "silly".
Burke told the National Press Club the government has brought in zero yoga teachers. Four instructors arrived since July 2022 under a trade agreement with India, according to records.
The government tripled construction worker visas from 4,500 to 15,000, Burke said. An Australian Associated Press fact check confirmed only four yoga instructors came during the time the Opposition claimed thousands had been prioritised.
