Rubio: both sides open to pausing attacks on food and power
Russia and Ukraine both show interest in a limited ceasefire on grain and energy targets.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in New York. Rubio said both Russia and Ukraine have expressed interest in a limited ceasefire that would focus on grain and energy infrastructure.
Ukraine and its allies have pushed hard for a pause on attacks to power and heating facilities. This would happen before northern hemisphere winter.
They also want guarantees for Black Sea shipping. Rubio noted a challenge.

They discussed an energy ceasefire. Zelenskiy told leaders he was ready for a maritime truce in the Black Sea.
