Albury council closes visitor information desk on October 23
Albury Council is shutting its visitor information centre to cut costs, ending decades of in-person tourism help.
Albury's visitor information centre closes on October 23 after councillors voted 6-2 in July to end the service. The desk at the library served about 9000 visitors in 2025.
In the same period, the Visit Albury Wodonga website received approximately 469,000 connections. Mayor Kylie King said most people now choose to find information online before and during their visit.
Wodonga Council shut its own visitor centre nearly 10 years ago. Printed maps and brochures will stay available at the library.
Council is working with tourism partners to help with the change.
