Twelve Apostles opens $126M upgrade as booking system stumbles
The Twelve Apostles' $126M redevelopment reopened Friday to praise for its design, but the new QR code booking system malfunctioned.
The landmark reopened Friday. The new visitor centre impressed guests with its design and included input from traditional owners.
The new booking system created immediate problems: QR codes failed to scan, gates had to be manually opened, and some visitors had to restart check-in entirely. A bus driver reported three consecutive days of QR code failures.
The new setup means visitors now stay about two and a half hours instead of about 45 minutes. About 7,000 people visited on Saturday.
An entry fee will be introduced in April 2027.
