Live's Ed Kowalczyk moves ahead with new band and 2027 album
Ed Kowalczyk's new Live lineup is permanent, with a 2027 album planned despite a cease-and-desist from original members.
In February, original Live members Chad Taylor and Chad Gracey sent a cease-and-desist letter telling Kowalczyk to stop using the band name. As Live's voice and writer on nearly every album, Ed Kowalczyk says his new lineup is permanent: "This is for keeps."
His band has guitarist Zak Loy, bassist Chris Heerlein, keyboardist Nick Jay, and drummer Johnny Radelat. The group has one album ready for 2027.
A second album is nearing completion. Kowalczyk hasn't sung on a Live album since 2006.
The band will tour Australia next March. It's called the Lookout Tour.
It also features Stone Temple Pilots, 4 Non Blondes, and Magic Dirt.
