Varsity opens 10th WA venue in Midland, creates 60-70 jobs
Varsity's 10th Western Australian venue opened in a heritage building in Midland on October 30.
Varsity opened its Midland venue at 32-33 Helena Street on October 30. The 1400-square-metre building was heritage-listed and once housed four historic hotels.
The venue has a sports bar with 52 beer taps and 20 screens, including five mega-screens on one wall. The venue also has a 300-square-metre arcade and the chain's largest prize shop to date.
The build cost more than $5 million and probably less than $10m. It is expected to create 60 to 70 jobs.
Combining heritage character with modern facilities is a first for Varsity, which opened its first venue in 2013. Artist Michael Hartley created the venue's largest external mural as a striking feature.
