The Roosters beat Darley during regular play and faced them twice in recent weeks, gaining confidence. Coach Maddie Fitzpatrick plays and coaches, bringing fresh intensity and energy to the club.
Skipper Poppy Douglass praised the team's positivity and community spirit. Midfielder Brydi Hutchinson won a premiership with Fitzpatrick at Hepburn as a teenager.
She says the new coach has pushed her to work harder. Utility player Milly Simpson has probably played 11 or 12 years from juniors through to A-grade.
