Tornado tears through Ulladulla as NSW storms batter coast
A small tornado hit Ulladulla on Saturday, knocking down trees and damaging homes as severe storms moved across NSW.
A tornado struck Ulladulla on the NSW South Coast around 1pm on Saturday. Fierce winds toppled trees and damaged roofs and homes.
Wishaya La Spina was driving with her baby when she saw the funnel cloud blast past. She felt helpless and unsure whether to stay in the car or flee.
The State Emergency Service recorded more than 80 incidents in the area, mostly in Ulladulla. Reports said roofs were torn from homes and trees blocked roads.
The Bureau of Meteorology warned of severe thunderstorms moving across central and south-eastern NSW. It forecast damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rain that could cause flash flooding in Sydney, Wollongong and nearby areas.
