About six young people threw eggs and cat food at Bernie's Bar, Newcastle's only LGBTQIA+ venue.
The incident happened on September 26 outside Bernie's Bar on King Street around 10pm. About six young people believed to be aged 14 to 16 threw eggs and cat food at patrons in the laneway before leaving.
Police conducting proactive patrols attended and started inquiries into the attack. Grace Frey is the co-founder.
She said those affected were offered support. Staff did not see the alleged attackers again that night.
The bar has faced anti-social behaviour. People have thrown eggs, water bottles, and glass bottles from the street or from passing cars.
Ms Frey said such incidents happen all year, though school holidays usually bring worse behaviour. Some incidents have included homophobic slurs.
But she noted the venue would likely face harassment no matter its LGBTQIA+ focus.
