Chef Rose wins gold at Nestlé cooking competition
Rose Chursuwannachai won two gold medals and a creativity award at the Golden Chef's Hat Awards.
Rose, who works at Canberra restaurant Rebel Rebel, competed at the 2026 Nestlé Golden Chef Awards and won gold for her entree and dessert, plus silver for her main. Rose also took the Most Creative Use of a Nestlé Product award for her white chocolate dessert.
Rose drew on her Thai heritage to create her three dishes. Rose's dessert, inspired by family camping trips in Thailand, features citrus meringue cigarettes, coconut rice pudding, white chocolate chantilly cream, rhubarb and orange compote, and salted potato crumb.
Rose comes from a hospitality family; her family has run a restaurant in Thailand for 50 years. She told the judges her passion for cooking sparked at age 12 when her mother gave her a small oven.
