Former American Idol contestant convicted of murdering his wife
Jury convicted Caleb Flynn on all nine counts after digital evidence, including AI-generated love songs and incriminating texts to his mistress.
Caleb Flynn, who appeared on American Idol in 2013, was found guilty of murdering his wife Ashley at their home in Tipp City, Ohio, on February 16. Flynn had been having an affair with a 24-year-old church intern and wanted out of his marriage.
Caleb Flynn staged a home invasion and shot Ashley twice in the back of the head while she slept. The night before the killing, Flynn texted his mistress: "I choose you.
I'm free. Actions will come tomorrow."
Prosecutors presented evidence including songs Flynn created with AI software for his lover, plus more than 100,000 text messages between them. The jury took just over two hours to convict him on nine counts including murder, assault, and tampering with evidence.
Flynn will be sentenced on October 5.
