Chery launches three luxury brands in Australia with electric cars
Chery is bringing Lepas, Exlantix and Luxeed premium brands to Australia in 2026 and 2027, betting that established luxury makers are slow to adopt new electric technology.
Chinese automaker Chery is launching three luxury brands in Australia as established premium makers lag on electric vehicle adoption. Lepas arrives first with the L6 electric SUV priced from $47,990, with deliveries starting November 2026.
It uses a 65kWh battery with a claimed 440km range, and a plug-in hybrid version follows in 2027. Exlantix arrives in the first half of 2027 with the ES GT shooting brake and new ET SUV, offering both electric and plug-in hybrid versions.
Luxeed arrives in the second quarter of 2027, starting with the LLounge people mover and the Stormax electric SUV. Chery's president said that luxury buyers are ready for new technology but too many established premium brands still rely on petrol engines as their main powertrain.
Chinese premium brands Zeekr and Denza are already selling in Australia, joining Korean Genesis which launched locally in 2019.
