A doctor and councillor was cautioned for falsely linking the LGBTQIA+ community with paedophiles.
Thomas Brough is an emergency doctor at Albany Health Campus and a former Liberal candidate. Brough claimed the LGBTQIA+ umbrella included people he called "minor attracted persons", a term for paedophiles.
The comments sparked complaints to the medical regulator and local government. Both sides agreed in a settlement that the comments were unprofessional conduct.
The tribunal's findings will appear on his entry in the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency's register. This follows earlier disputes over inclusion training.
